TUK Academic Journal (“TUK,” “we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how it is handled, in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), as the journal is based in Porto, Portugal.

1. Who we are

2. What data we collect

Manuscript submissions (via our journal management system, OJS): When you submit an article, we collect your name, email address, institutional affiliation, and any other information you provide as part of the submission process (co-authors, ORCID iD, biographical statement).

Website visitors: We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our website (pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type). Google Analytics uses cookies and may process your IP address in anonymized or pseudonymized form. You can disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. We do not use third-party advertising trackers. Our hosting provider may also temporarily log standard technical data (IP address, browser type, date/time) for security purposes.

We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties. Data may be shared only with:

  • Our hosting provider (Hostinger) and email service provider (Google Workspace), acting strictly as data processors on our behalf
  • Google Analytics, for aggregated website usage statistics
  • Academic indexing and archiving bodies (e.g., ISSN registration authorities, DOAJ, once applicable), limited to published bibliographic data

6. Data retention

Submission data is retained for as long as necessary for editorial and archival purposes. Published article metadata (author names and affiliations) is retained permanently as part of the scholarly record, consistent with international academic publishing standards.

7. Your rights under GDPR

You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent to analytics cookies at any time via your browser settings. Please note that once an article is published, the author’s name and affiliation become part of the permanent scholarly record and cannot be removed, consistent with international publishing standards. This service is not directed at children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.
